Bursary: United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage

The Society for the Study of Christian Ethics is keen to facilitate United Kingdom Minority Ethnic/Global Majority Heritage (UKME/GMH) students, scholars and practitioners to participate and contribute to its annual conferences. We want to address the marginalisation of UKME/GMH voices, questions, experiences and perspectives and to become a space for deeper and broader conversation around the topics which constitute the endeavour of Christian ethics.

To that end, the Society is partnering with the Susanna Wesley Foundation to provide a bursary scheme for UKME/GMH scholars that will cover much of the cost of attending the 2022 conference.  If you identify as UKME/GMH and would like to participate in the conference but the cost presents an obstacle for you, please do apply.

The scheme works as follows:

  1. Email Jennifer Moberly at j.l.moberly@durham.ac.uk to apply for the bursary, simply indicating that you are eligible for the bursary and would like to apply. Successful applicants will be awarded bursaries (supported by funding from the Susanna Wesley Foundation). The deadline for bursary applications is Monday 6th June 2022.
  2. If you have applied for a bursary you will be notified by e-mail (to the address from which you applied) of the outcome by Friday 1st July 2022. If you have applied for a bursary, please do not make your booking until you know the outcome of your application. This is because bursary ticket options will be made available via the online registration page after bursary applications have been reviewed.

Please note: in order to receive a bursary, you must be a member of the Society. If you are not already a member, please follow this link.

There are a limited number of bursaries available, and bursaries will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the event that the UKME/GMH bursary scheme is over-subscribed, unsuccessful applicants will be considered for the standard conference bursary.

If you have any questions about the bursaries, please contact Jennifer Moberly at j.l.moberly@durham.ac.uk.
